About Us

Growing Food. Restoring Nature. Building the Future.

Emerald Aquaponics is a sustainable growing venture founded by Charles Carr and Kedar Friis-Lawrence in Ireland. We design and build practical aquaponic systems that support efficient food production, healthy plant growth, and a more responsible approach to agriculture.

Our work is grounded in the belief that modern growing should be innovative, resource-conscious, and closely aligned with natural ecosystems. By integrating fish and plants in balanced recirculating systems, we develop solutions that are both productive and sustainable.

As co-founders, we share a long-term commitment to quality, learning, and systems that can scale while remaining nature-aligned. Emerald Aquaponics exists to explore better ways to grow food, with a focus on resilience, circular resource use, and the future of local food production.

Our Story

Emerald Aquaponics grew out of a shared conviction that food can be produced in ways that are smarter, cleaner, and more connected to nature. Starting from hands-on experimentation with sustainable growing, we set out to build aquaponic systems that are practical in real-world contexts, not just on paper.

By pairing fish cultivation with plant production in natural recirculating environments, our aim is to show how aquaponics can support local, year-round harvests while reducing waste and protecting waterways. The company reflects our vision for a more resilient food system that values resource efficiency, healthy ecosystems, and high-quality produce.

We see Emerald Aquaponics as more than a business: it is a long-term commitment to developing sustainable solutions, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the evolution of modern agriculture in Ireland and beyond.
